As anyone in the 'bay area" can attest to, I am very loud. After driving 650 miles last weekend I agree that quality earplugs are a must. I would not attempt any trip of any distance without them.
I also added car chemistry inserts into the end of the tail pipes. It made a world of difference for me, although others tell me I am still extremely loud. I put the inserts in without any cutting of the pipes. Trimmed the inserts and hammered them in. I riveted them in place, to make sure I liked them, and will tack weld them in place now that I am sure that they work.
