Default Clutch line size

What are the pros and cons of using AN-4 as opposed to AN-3 for a clutch line.

i think i have used them both, can't tell the difference either way. whatever fittings usually work at the time for me.

In theory, the larger AN4 line will make it slightly easier to push in the clutch pedal and will allow the clutch disc to engage slightly quicker when releasing the clutch pedal. In actual practice, I doubt that anyone could feel or measure the difference. I'd go with the above advice and use whichever was easier to install.

When we used -3 lines (back in the early '80s), Car and Driver managed to smoke a clutch because of the slow release. We've used -4 lines ever since.

In my opinion -3 Works fine. Been using it for 25 years no issues? No need to reinvent the wheel. The only variable is the actual amount of fluid volume being moved back & forth. The same ratios in sizing between Master/Slave fluid transfer to achieve sufficient movement of the clutch arm CAN be obtained with various sizes and still create the same pedal effort.

I tend to favor -4 but won't stress about it. Make sure your supply line from the external canister to master cylinder is more like ID 5/16" (would that be now -5?)
