This past spring, I installed a Pro 5.0 on my TKO. After talking to the guys at TTC, this was the shifter they suggesting using. Apparently, they had received various negative comments on all the after market shifters, except the Pro 5.0.
After a summer of use, it's worked flawlessly. It's a high quality part, firms up feel considerably, and shortens the throw a bit. I'm very pleased with it. Also, it uses the standard Mustang metric thread for the knob.
If you do change shifters, remember to remove the shifter mounted adjustable stops. Tremec's have internal stops, so the shifter mounted stops are not necessary.
I once had the B&M Ripper on a T5Z. I now have the Pro 5.0 Power Tower on my Tremec 3550 which is supposed to not shift as smooth as the T5. I must say the pro 5.0 is the better of the two pieces and my Tremec shifts short and smooth every time.
The first 1000 miles my Tremec had the stock shifer which loosened up but was a longer throw and a bit notchy. I am very happy with the pro 5.0 shifter. It got better the more I used it.

Pro 5 is about 25 minutes down the road from me. I think I'll give them a call and see what they can do on the $. Probably more than the mail order houses!!!!

Guys - Is it possible to buy a Pro 5.0 for mounting on the centre cover of the Tremec?, I have the conversion kit for centre cover mounting but I find the lever action poor.
I would definately reinstall the stops on the aftermarket shifter. Then adjust them.
The aftermarket shifter already voids any warranty the trans had.
Hold the shifter in gear, third or fourth will do fine, and tranitioin on and off the throttle. You will feel the shifter move a bit forward and backwards when getting on the throttle. This tells me that there are not stops in the trans.
Tremecs don't like fast shifting very much either. The synchros go away quickly. Remember to use GM synchromesh fluid or Redline ATF not gear oil in tremecs.

For what it's worth, I'm running the Steeda Tri-Ax Shifter on my Tremec and love it. I set the shifter stops per their instructions and it works flawlessly!
The external stops was one of the reasons I purchased the Pro5.0 shifter for my tremec. Cheap insurance. It's a high quality piece. You won't be disappointed.

I spoke with the guys from Pro-5.0 and I was told that I could get the shifter less handle for 169.00. Don't need the handle, I've got the original style.
I was also told that the stops are used in the Tremec and that the Tremec has no internal stops.?.?

I just installed a Pro 5.0 shifter and need to set the stops. The instructions included with the shifter say to push the shifter firmly into gear (first, then second), run the stop bolt in until it touches, then back off one turn. This gives about .050" clearance between the shifter and the stop bolt, which seems like a lot. On the Pro 5.0 website, the instructions say to back the bolt off .010". Big difference. Pro didn't answer their telephone and "Contact Us" on their website didn't give an email address, just said to phone for tech help. I emailed the company from whom I bought the shifter and they didn't answer my question. So, what did you guys do?
I just installed a 5.0 on my TKO so I can't say how it well it works. It definitely shifts shorter. I really didn't like the stock shifter and third was real hard to find when I tried to shift quickly. I kept the stops on mine and think I read somewhere that you need to do that. I would also recommend a new shifter boot. You can get them from Randy Thomas at perfomanceunlimited.com.
I have a Pro 5.0 I can't use if anyone is interested. Apparently they are slightly taller than the stock Tremec shifter. This is too high for the tunnel in an ERA
