I have removed my motor and TKO 600 several times (maybe 20 plus) in my Lone Star with a engine lift and Engine Load Leveler. You don't need anything fancy. Several beach towels for the front and fenders. A short 2 x 4 wrapped in a towel for the firewall. And two guys.

here we are dropping a 427 into a CSX 6000 with my lift and lever. Note I have extended the arm on the lift to keep a safe distance from the paint.
in this picture you can see the 120 lbs of lead on the back of the lift used for counterbalance. We have removed / installed over 100 motors with this set up. I've loaned it out to several people over the years. No failure on the hydraulic cylinder, yet.
