steering seems tight

I have a brand new CSX car, no motor installed. While the car is off the ground the steering seems a little tight. you should be able to turn the wheel with very little effort right? like with one finger? I tried to troubleshoot this by removing the tie rod and see if the issue in in the spindles or in the steering rack. But I cant seem to seperate the tie rod from the spindle. I tired hitting the tie rod from below and it wont budge. I dont want to damage anything. anyone here have a CSX car that they can advise me? is it normal to have some resistance on a new steering rack?

I went down and checked with my car, that is currently on GoJaks because I was pushing it around in the garage. With GJs under the front wheels, I can turn the steering wheel easily with one finger. I even tried doing it with my pinky. Now that I'm writing this, I remember straightening the wheels out before I put the GJs on. I did that by just standing next to the car and turning the wheel, which was relatively easy, but not one finger's worth, and that was with the tires on the cement floor.

And a Tie Rod Removal tool is less than fifty bucks. But if you can't turn your steering wheel really easily with the wheels off the ground, then something's wrong.

Disconnect lower ujoint from the intermediate shaft that on the steering rack Pinion and see if it’s in the steering column or in the rack that’s causing the bind there should be next to zero restriction when you turn the steering column when it’s not connected to the rack give it a try and good luck

Thanks Tom, I have had the steering column apart several times because of the removal of my dashboard related to the drama I had with my gauges thanks to nissonger (jerk) another topic all together.

Its not in the steering column. I cant seem to separate
the tie rod from the spindle with out tearing up the rubber boot. is there a way to lubricate the steering rack?
