Under those circumstances, I could understand how it might be overfilled. What I don't know is how overfilled it has to be in order to cause the symptoms you are describing.
The only way to address this, in my opinion, is to evenly raise the car and remove the fill plug and see for yourself if it is infact overfilled. You'll know right away....
