Yes, the lower wishbone flexes, but here I would worry more about the pivot bracket breaking apart without the tie bar. Imaginge the forces involved when both wheels are at full load under a tire-burning start. The force on the rear pivot is roughly 1000 lbs, pulling straight out. Then add some nice wheel hop.
