Default Shoulder belts

David just looking at your last response to Jim M. re: sub belt etc.
Where do you mount/annchor the passenger side shoulder straps assuming you are using the rollbar "cross piece" for the drivers side.

Do you have any photos of your cars with the belts attached?

Thanks
Tim

I remember this thread from months ago - and it scares me still...

There are a couple reasons for the conflicting specs:

A race car is much more likely (and have much higher dynamic loads) to experience a rollover than a street car, so they emphasize keeping the driver down. Especially since double shoulder straps are better than a single diagonaly belt at restraining forward motion.

Without a crotch strap to keep you from submarining, you're better off with a higher top mounting.

Does that bring things into perspective?

After reading this entire post from start to finish I have one more stupid question? Where do you get the count of 6 in the harness? If your shoulder harness is in the H pattern I count 2, than 1 left and 1 right for the lap belt, and finally 1 for the croutch. This brings the total to 5. Where does number 6 come in at?

If I recall the diff between 5 and 6 pt. is that the sub strap can be one or two straps.

Bob the only hi point I have in my car is the round tube that spans across the car behind the bulkead where the body is attached. On the drivers side I could use that or the rollbar with a crossbrace.

The outer tube (frame) is at shoulder level or slightly above.

BLACKJACK,,,,I to have an Excalibur Cobra. I have been desperatly searching for some kind of specs (parts) for the car. The shoulder belt is NOT A NUTSERT, by the way, it is bolted to the frame. I ROAD RACE my Cobra and have checked out the roll bar and seat belt very carefully, I'm satisfied with it at this time!

PLEASE E-MAIL or leave message where I might contact you! Would love to discusss the Excalibur in more detail.
