I had a permacool and mounted it a bit too close to the radiator. One day I did a power stop and the blades 'flexed' forward and made a real mess of my rad fins. OUCH!
My Derale, similar to the Spal, has a spiral blade and gives me all the circulation I need. I think the straight blades, like you have, gives a bit more circulation. Had I known that way back I would have gotten that configuration.
