Blake,
I would start the troubleshooting by pulling the distributor and looking to see if the
oil pump shaft is sheared. If it is not, I would set
up an extension and socket into an electric drill to turn the pump. (make sure the socket is not going to fall off and tumble into
your eng) Remove the
oil press sender and drive the pump with the drill...
oil should gush out of where the sender was. now that you
have a mess to
clean up, at least you know your engine's heart is at least partially functioning. I have seen where plumber's tape used to seal
the
sender's threads blocks the tiny hole in the sender, check it out.

A broken ring will not cause low oil press. I'm not sure what to make of the account of the symptoms ...let's start with the
basics and move on from there.
