I used 1/2 x 3/4 alum angle from Home Depot. They also make 3/4 x 3/4 and 1 x 1. The stuff is very thin but the secret is to heat it up with a torch and take the temper out of it. It gets like butter and is easy to form and apply. I drilled and tapped the holes for 6/32 stainless button heads.
