Pully Gurus . . . . . HELP!!!
I just installed a Jegs high flow water pump. It is for a 79 - 85 5.0.
My crank and front damper are older out of a 302 with a 3 bolt dampner. Here's the problem. The new water pump fits and bolts on fine to the engine, except they moved the shaft and imperller a little lower in the housing in order to fit the bigger impeller. So now the top pully hits the lower pully and will not fit. They overlap by about 1/4". Each pully is 6" in diameter. The bottom pully is a three grove even though I only use one belt that drives the water pump and alternator. No PS, no AC.
So do they make a smaller diameter upper or lower pully that I can use to resolve this dilema?
