mounting Unique seats

Any input from unique owners on mounting seats...I would prefer to use seat tracks but I think this will put the driver too high in the car...did anyone get more comfort from elevating the front edge of the seat?...Did you mount into the 2 2x4 frame rails or into the thin covering floor plate?? Thanks John

You bolt thru the plate. Yes, tilting the seat back helps a lot. The seat track makes the seat to high for me. At track events I take out the seat bottom, helps me feel more in control of the car.

I mounted mine through both the frame and the plate. The inside bolts are through the frame and the outside bolts are through the plate -- it's a heavy plate.

I have the adjustable seat rails only on the driver's side and they only raise the seat about a half inch which isn't too high for my six foot frame. They are not needed on the passenger side since there is no back seat or peddles to reach. Putting a 3/4 inch spacer in front of the seats makes the seats much more comfortable because the seats will be supporting the back of your legs -- the spacer helps both seats.

What proceedure did you use for actually bolting in the seats...bolt the tracks to the floor and then bolt the seats to the tracks or vice-versa? Also what hardware did you use? Thanks John

I used a steel square tube, 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" for the front of the seat, plus it has a 5/16" teflon spacer under that. On the rear I played around with the position of a 1" square steel spacer until I got the seat about 3/8" off the floor. I didnt want to use the seat bottom on the floor with a spacer up front. This works for me as I am 5' 9". Drilling through the floor pan works fine, you can use some large steel fender washers on the bottom, I used them made out of stainless steel.

The back of the seats match the angle of the rear bulkhead when the front of them are raised about 1" to 1.5" . (looks better)
