Default What Jag models and years are suitable running gear & suspension donors

I have a question, with which some of you may be able to help. I plan on using an IRS in my future snake kit, but I am not sure what Jag models and years are suitable donors. The only one that I am almost sure of is the 62 - 67 XKE Series 1, and from that donor I know I can get the front suspension parts. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Wahoo65,

I went through this with the E-M kit.

REAR:

The XKE wishbones are the narrowest. The 3.8S, 420 and the V12 XKE (Series III) also fit. I ended up with the 3.8S.

FRONT:

I still have some XKE front suspensions. I strongly recommend you look at the Mustang II, which is what I used mainly for ground clearance reasons. The XKE front suspension's torsion bars are run beneath the main frame rails and diminish ground clearance enough to be the lowest points on the car. The MII doesn't cause this problem.

What frame are you using?

Tom

Default Frame

I will most likely be settling on either the Mid West round tube or the Unique. Is there a preference towards wishbone width? Narrower? Wider? Are there any years in particular that make better donors or are easier to locate?

As for the front suspension, I am not really worried about ground clearence, so I will be using the Series I. If I am unable to locate a front suspension some what locally, I may be contacting you about the the extras you mentioned.

Thanks,

Look for the narrower arms and axles previously listed. The centre section is the key as longer arms and axles can be shortened by someone with the equipment. Look for a centre section with two tags under the bolts for the back cover. One will read BPL (British Power Lock) the other will be the ratio either directly or as a fraction. 3.54 is the desirable original ratio. If you find two let me know, the scammers round here want $600 for a pumpkin only. Need more info, ask here. Good hunting.
Cheers Nick

Look for the 89-95 XJS high efficiency, very strong, it has the aluminum cover.

Default Location: Soon to be Hell

Steve R,

I am located at the western edge of the Houston City limits, just south of I-10. Literally, I am within walking distance of Katy, but not Katy proper. As you may haveread in today's paper, they have begun the I-10 corridor renovation, so the hell will begin soon.

I've been dealing with the 59 project for 3 years now. I'd guess there is about 3 or 4 people working on the 3mile stretch at any given time. ....or maybe it just seems that way..ugh!
