Question Data Plates??????????

Does anyone out there know what all those "Numbers" on data plates mean????? I am speaking of the plates on Rear Ends and Transmissions. I have tried and tried to find out what they identify to no avail.....even the local Ford dealership can't help.

The rear end plate is as follows:

201A
2SL73A887D10 (could be 7010)

The transmission plate is as follows:

F4ZR-7003-AC-REP-BB
1352-238 311352 BD481 (could be BO481)

Any help deciphiring these numbers would be "GREATLY" appreciated.......................Thanks, Earl

Went and double checked....no segments on the rear end plate...just one long sequence.

The rearend looks like it's an 8.8 2.73 posi, but usually the #'s are separated into segments. 1994 trans is all I can tell right now.

Howdy, Is the v-6 bellhousing the same as the v-8 bellhousing?

I have a '97 F-150 w/ a 4.2 v-6. Ford said trans will not bolt up to a small block (302-351), but it will. It will not bolt up to a 4.6 v-8.

Thanks for the info....Paul.

Took me a couple of tries on google - what finally got it was the 1352-238.

I was confused on the 3.8 also... My guess is that the case is the same between a lot of the build numbers. For instance look at -246: off of a 94-95 5.0 with the same interface dimensions (input length, speedo gear, etc.) just different ratios.

What's the history on the donor car? Are you sure it didn't have a prior swap? Could the id tag have been swapped on a prior rebuild? I'd say check the ratios by counting turns - it may give you some more clues. Does it have the steel or aluminum bearing retainer?

Now I found some info for you - find me an assembly drawing on a versailles rear disc brake setup!!! I've come up short on that one!!!! (insert frustrated moan here...)

Okay, first an apology......I got my ID tags mixed up......the one listed above came off of a T5 transmission.......sorry for the confusion.
The automatics plate is as follows;
PHB 29 B23C
D 80 PAA

And on the case itself it says: D8AP-7006AA

Any ideas now that I have the right DATA???

The 1352 is a T5 supposedly out of a 5.0.

Thanks for all the great help, Earl
