Ahhhhh, yes, I forgot you are an original Meechigan'der. So, this will be home and shop, yes? I suppose a scarlet and grey paint scheme is out of the question...

As to my floor, not quite ready to get started yet. Half the garage will be out of service while painting, so I'm trying to finish up some projects before hand. I need to do half at a time, as some things just can't sit outside. I hope to be ready to go in early May. Even though this stuff is a 4 step process, it dries fairly quickly, and should be back in service in just a couple days, depending on weather.

Your roller is waiting!

Default Update...

Just finished up the first half of my floor, thought I'd post an update for those interested.

The WonderPaint is....wonderful! Truly amazing stuff. We'll see how it wears, but I'm now very convinced it's superior to any epoxy. The company has been...wonderful! to work with, fantastic customer support. I have zero complaints thus far. Here's a coupla pix of the finished half. I hope to start the other half this weekend.

For anyone with more specific questions, I'd be happy to provide more details of my experience so far. This is a great alternative to epoxy or tile systems.

Dave, seeing your old, original floor, that is amazing.
I need to talk to your rep.
Headed back to Meechigan the first of the next week. Finish the last 2/3's of the back wall and the roof goes on!

I guess it's time to get serious about this floor thing!

DV...sombody call me tomorrow morning. I almost slept past 5:30 this morning! SHEEEEEEEEEESH... I need a Fling

DV,
I'll post Jim's(WonderPaint rep.) contact info when I get home. Don't have it with me at the moment.

I don't think you will find anyone more helpful in the concrete coating business. He's treated me like a number one customer, even though I'm only coating 600 sq. ft. The product speaks for itself. I'm 100% impressed.

My only question....why didn't I do this years ago???

Chris,
Indeed it is! I also opted for the urethane top coat, to get that glassy shine, and added measure of protection.

Are you familiar with WonderPaint's products? Incredible stuff.

Thanks, Rick!

You know, I think that's precisely why I never did this before now...always had automotive projects going, couldn't afford to lose the space or down time. Now, with nary a thing going on(automotively speaking..), I can turn my attention to the garage it's self! The walls are also getting a redo, and all new cabinets will be the finishing touch. I'll post pix of the complete results. It will probably be nicer than the rest of the house!

As to that "something" to park on it....working on it, my friend.

Dave,
I'm going to be calling Jim Shofstall today! What do you think of getting Nu-Look, WonderPaint to be a sponsor of the Fling this year? Talk about a built in market!

I've already approached "Race Deck" but no response yet. All these guys would have to do is show up and show off! Maybe he/they could donate enough product to do one basic garage and we cold offer it as a door prize?

DV...Trust, I'd buy a bunch of tickets for either of these products!
Da' Fling! Gotta have a Fling!

Default Alladin/Spray-Crete

Hey guys,

Anybody heard of Alladin coatings, or Spray-Crete? I did a BUNCH of research on cement coatings and they look to be one of the best. The only down side is that they don't sell to the public. They only work with their licensed installers.

I'm remodeling houses and I'm interested in unique and unusual flooring applications. So I began doing a bunch of research and was eventually guided to the Spray-Crete site. http://www.spray-crete.net/index.php The more I learned, the more this product seamed to stand out above the rest. In fact, I just spent a week and 3k to become a licensed installer/supplier for the stuff.

It comes in either a textured/stamped/or plain stained finish with 1300 colors to choose from. Each of these applications can be sealed with 3 different proprietary sealers, including an aliphatic (sp?) urethane which is immune even to very harsh chemicals (jet fuel, brake fluid, etc) and leaves a super glossy finish. In fact, they are so sure of it's durability that they give you a 5 year warranty even in industrial settings. So in an ordinary greasy, oily garage, it should last for ever with basic care.

Alladin has been around since '52 and Spray-Crete since '82. Alladin specializes in industrial paints and coatings. They own 500+ formulas. Spray-Crete (now a part of Alladin) specializes in decorative concrete floor coatings. They have a proprietary mix that is up to 10 times stronger than 3000 psi concrete. The beauty is that their acid and xylene solid color stains allow you to do LOGOS!! I'm planning on having a layered set of the Cobra hood badge stencils done so that I can put this down on my (and anyone else's) garage floor.

Check out the above web site and I'll post pics of a few custom installed garage floors soon.

All the best,

Charmer

Yes do come to the Fling Charmer. And if you want to put it down as a demo, remember that I live here in Columbus!

DV and rdorman,

I'd LOVE to come if work would let me. It would be a perfect place to demo the product. Unfortunately, I'm booked at two festivals that weekend with the band...&$%^. With all the marketing and preperation that goes into these things, it's virtually impossible to cancel. At the least, I'll try and get some samples made and send them up with one of the other Texas guys.

All the best,

Charmer

DV,
Your info has been passed along. As far as the sponsor thing, that's your magic to work! Might be a possibility, who knows. I told Jim I've posted kudos on several automotive websites, so I'm sure he'd like to get more exposure.

Charmer,
The Alladin sounds very similar to the WonderPaint. The colors and patterns are endless, dependant only on your creativity. I'm using the leftover materials to do a paver look on my sidewalks!

Word of caution on the aliphatic urethane! VERY moisture sensitive! Just the humidity in the air caused mine to look a little brownish right by the door opening. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, it shines like crazy, and seems impervious to anything.

Dave,
I called, I talked, and talked and talked. I volunteered "YOU" to help Jim at the Fling! In all seriousness it appears that he will make an honest effort to be here to show off! He may even have an offer that I can't refuse!

Have any of you ever seen a "candy apple red" concrete floor? I certainly haven't, but Jim said it's only one of an unlimited color option you can have with the same durabilty. Now that I have got see!

Jorgen,
I called to late , I left my phone if you have a chance tomorrow, give me a call. If not, trust I will call you only before closing time!

DV...No stopping it now...full steam ahead!,

Thumbs up

DV,
That is awesome! I really hope he can make it. And of course, I'll help any way I can. I'll be talking to him tomorrow, we'll see what we can work out.

Yeah, as I mentioned, the colors and patterns you can do with this stuff is only limited by your imagination! He sent me some pix of a foyer in a restaurant that was amazing. Is candy apple red your color of choice??? That, I too, must see!

I'll let you know if/when we can work something out for the fling.
~Dave
PS> Finished up the other half tonight, just waiting for the urethane to dry. Man, this stuff is awesome! The walls are next!
