I bought a metal-backed stick-on model at the local parts house. Probably the 3.5 inch model. The secret is not to stick it on. Remove the stock item and replace it with the new one using the same technique as the original used to mount the mirror in the mirror body. Your net position is a convex mirror in the original mount that looks perfect and works well. No, you cannot see through the rear fender, but your blind spot is gone.

Default Cobra mirrors

Mirrors have always been a problem on Cobras. If you'll go to BRE2.net you'll see the proper solution. Badger

Neat site - that TR7 looks so cool - if only they would have built it!

If you decide to replace the mirror, look at one of these. I use the 4" model, and it works great.

Chilibit,

I your idea of replacing the existing mirror with the convex one in the same housing.

Do you have any pictures of yours?

Thanks,
Dan

I also replaced my flat mirror with a convex mirror using the original housing. Using Performance unlimited's convex stick on mirror, you remove the black plastic backing with a razor blade or exacto knife (be careful not to scratch the reflective backing). Remove the original chrome housing from your mirror by undoing chrome screw in back of mirror. You then remove the original glass from its plastic bezel. Your convex mirror is then placed into the original plastic bezel. Notice that the spring tension inside the mirror will need to be increased. Reassemble and you're all set. Easy to do. Takes about 1/2 hr. Looks perfect. Much better than stick on. Works great!
