Here's another thread on this topic - I posted a few pics of my stand on it.
Northern Tools (and others) have engine stands for "storage". I bought one of these, added wheels and a radiator support. A local lawn mower boneyard provided the gas tank, a cheapy gage set and a little wiring and voila - a run stand. Total cost including hoses and misc items was about $200.
