Best timing setup??
I need some help from the forum on setting up my timing for best performance on my 418 stroker.
What is the optimum setting for initial advance, full advance and at what rpm should full advance be in by? I have an MSD 6AL with the spring kit and limiters ready to go. Car has 10.25:1 compression, .570/.586 dual pattern cam, Edelbrock Victor Jr. heads and an 850 Holley.
Should I recurve the distributor at 20 degrees initial, with full advance of 38 degrees by 2800 rpm? I am not quite sure how the timing should be designed for getting optimum performance - horsepower and torque - from the mighty 418. Thanks for you help.
