Car cover inside out?????

Is there an outside and inside to these things? I bought one of those three layer all weather covers and was shocked how much water came through it. It would seem logical that there is an outside and a inside but how the heck can you tell the difference?

Any one else put one on inside out and have the same experience?

Hmm, I don't own an outdoor cover but I'm under the impression that the outdoor covers are not intended to keep the water out. Rather, they're intended to allow a wet car to dry rather than trapping all the water under the cover. That is, I think they're supposed to be very breathable and they will allow water to pass freely from either direction.

They usually have "front" stencilled on the outside of the cover. I saw a display once of the technalon cover. It had a small piece of the special fabric sealed into the middle of a clear plastic bottle. The upper half was full of water, the lower half had air only. When you squeezed a bulb attached to the lower half, air bubbles would pass through the fabric and float to the top. Your car should remain dry.

I usually paint a big arrow or something on the outside of mine because it's sometimes hard to find the "front". The inside usually has the rougher unfinished edge of the fabric showing, too.

LMAO, Al, I was thinking the same thing when I posted this thread. I can talk for hours about brake and chassis dynamics, but a car cover.......... forget about it!

A soon as I get the radiator project done (of course custom made everything), I think it is time for a little cover experimenting. Using the scientific method of course!
