Jus Bit,
I like your color combo. I wanted yellow and graphite at first, but have since decided to go with the black and graphite. The yellow would clash with my car.

Jams,
I am looking at about 1000sq ft at 2.75 a foot. Ouch.

I hadn't thought of the potential noise issue. Does it exist? My existing floor is flat, so the tiles shouldn't see any up and down movement.

I guess if noise is an issue you can always lay down some rolled foam underlayment. Many floating laminate (wooden) floors use it. The only problem is it might trap water and create mildew etc.

Mark I can't even do the math for the cost of your floor!

Bob Evans of RaceDeck of SoCal is a great source to buy RaceDeck and has a CC discount in place.

As for the noise? we do have a new product out called TuffShield and it is a molded High Gloss floor tile that looks as though it is wet. It resists all petroleum products and most household chemicals...Very trick looking

We also have a new RaceDeck Diamond tile comming out next week, it is an 18"x18" x1/2" monster tile...it will be compatible with the current 12" RaceDeck, this will make for some very creative floors

Jams: as for the "tile(s)" you saw at Sear's- I am guessing you saw the Gladiator tile which is on display but not for sale yet ( we have a business relationship with this company WP). When it does go to market, it will retail for over $3.75 a foot and available in only two colors. I think the price you got for $2.60? is for the flooring that you see in every Sears that we manufacturer and sell to them. Keep in mind 'not all tile and floor systems are the same'...it is just like saying that every Cobra replica is the same so just buy the cheapest.... We do manufacturer less durable tiles that we do not recomend for a garage floor....very similar to what you may have been qouted on......

I had done my homework sometime ago and decided on racedeck over epoxy, as I had never seen any member mention any problems with racedeck. (In fact I have only ever seen glowing recommendations)

I the building I work in, there is an auto detailer that had installed racedeck about 6 months ago. The problem is that they have had two issues with the product.

1. / The surface is extremely slippery. This might have to do with the fact they use silicone tire products, and over-spray is the issue. But either way, they complain that it remains slippery even after cleaning.

2. / The racedeck has indents where the cars sit while being cleaned. I don’t know if this weakness has to do with cleaners in their products, but there are definitely low spots where tires sit (I know because they have many different cars and wheelbases, it shouldn't do this but it does)

The slippery issue does not concern me as much, as I don't spray cleaners/silicones around. But the indents concern me, more so for the SUV as opposed to the Cobra.

I have had my floor in for over two years and I just walked out and looked to be sure. I have the replica setting on the Kwik Lift ramps and have had for the two years and there isn't even a mark where the legs of the ramp sit. I have the 69 TC which weighs in at over 3900 lbs. on the other side and I can't find a place at all where the tires sit on the floor. This has been my experience and I am in no way saying there can't be places appear. But with the honey comb under the tiles, I would think it would have to be a very heavy object to make a low place.

I've had my Racedeck floor for about 9 months and am very happy with it. I have not noticed any dents caused by cars, floor jacks, etc. It did put dents in the floor with sharp edged jack stands. I just welded 1 inch pads on the bottom of the legs and that solved the problem. I also put pads on the sharp edges of the lift ramps and glued linoleum to the lift leg pads to cushion them a bit. The cars include a Ford Expedition. I have the diamond plate and it seems very slip resistant. Was the floor that was slippery - smooth or diamond plate? I believe the smooth tile would be sippery if wet. One other issue is that if it's a hot day and the sun shines directly on the tile with the door up it lifts a bit at the edge because of expansion. It goes back down as soon a I close the door or the roof shades it. Sun shine through the windows is not a problem.

That is a beautiful garage and cars. Since you bought the Cobra for such a low price, I don't suppose you would be willing to sell it for a modest profit would you? Say around $25K.

It is the diamond plate pattern. With the silicone residue, it was deadly with leather bottomed shoes (they said rubber soles weren't as bad).

I will try to take a picture of the indents and post.

I also have decided to go with RaceDeck Tiles in my garage but ordered them thru a mail order catalog.

I tried to call Bob Evans last week to get the "ClubCobra" discount price, but he blew me off and referred my call back to Race Deck, who them returned my call. So much for the Club Cobra discount.

You might want to access their web site directly and get a list of dealers in your area, they seem to be a little more accomodating than Bob. But this just my opinion and experience.

Pardon me for questioning your comments about your inquiry into Racedeck, but I do not remember you calling our office! The only complaint that I usually receive from Club Cobra members is that I talk too much about Cobras when they call in! Are you absolutely sure it was me?? My average phone call from CC members is about 60 minutes.

Our number at Racedeck of So. Calif. is 866 789 5927, so let me know if that is the number you called. I have always enjoyed talking with alot of the CC members who have called in.

Now, if indeed you did call and talk to me, I'd like to ask 2 questions;
Did you let me know that you were a CC member?

By stating that I "Blew you off", do you mean that we just referred you back to the manufacturer? If so, it's because I am no longer allowed to offer the CC discount to customers located outside of So. Calif., such as Lew. I have been instructed by the manufacturer that you must contact the local dealer in your area, who may not even know anything about CC.
