Dashboard . . . . Please Help!

Anyone know where to find upholstery screws ( or something else ) that screws dashboard onto the body?

My dashboard is leather covered and need to find a classy way to screw it into the body.

Any suggestions are welcome here . . . . .

Anyone know a better way to do this, please tell me?

I think your talking about oval head self tap screws and finishing washers. You should be able to get then at any good hardware store.

If you can't find them then you might try:

Be sure to use nickel or stainless.

Around here, you can usually find these in a any "NAPA" auto parts store - chrome trim screws, with a finish washer. Often on a spinning rack display with auto body trim screws, j-nuts, door hardware, etc.

Try Homr Depot in the fastener section. You'd be amazed at what you can find there.

My EM only has three visable screws in it I used SS allen socket countersunk screws in SS finish washers.I was concerned about the finish washer cutting the fabric ,so I glued a ss flat washer to the back each of the finish washers .It spreads out the force applied to the fabric.If there is a rounded edge to the fifnsh washer put it towards the fabric. most washers are stamped(punched from flat sheet stock) leaving sharp edges on one side ( inner and outter ) and a rounded edges on the other . I had seen a manufactured washer like I made on a piece of equipment from Australia. My brother showed me screws for some aircraft . They had the washer incorporated onto the screw.It was for a metal surface and ended up almost flush.

Is there any option to attach from behind to avoid visible screw/bolts etc.

I used automotive finish trim washers and painted them and the screws flat black to blend in with the leather. Have a bunch of the washers left over if you need some I would gladly send you what you need. Just let me know here or by email. Gotta help out a fellow Hunter builder.

Ifound mine at a Sears hardware store. They had black or chrome
in several lengths, cheap too.
