How do you erase DTC for an O.B.D. II vehicle

nogood If it is GM you need a scanner like the techII to clear the codes. Snapon scanner works too. Rick

All vehicles 1996 and newer are OBD II. If you have no access to a scanner you can disconnect the battery and that will get rid of it, but you will also erase any adaptives which the computer will have to re-learn, no big deal though. Why the code in the first place ? Erasing it doesn't cure the reason it came on.

While we're on OBD II, do you know the name of the tool that accesses information from an OBD II vehicle?

Any number of scanners out there for this..a midrange one will be about 150 bucks at any decent parts store. Almost all will have a 'clear' button to erase the dtc.s.
