Cranky, don't encourage these guys to run on a road course against a zo6, because it will run and hide from 99% of these cobra's. Scott

Buddy of mine has waxed a few Vipers, however the other day, he picked on one that dusted his a$$. At the light he notices the little Hennessy emblem on the back!! Watch out for those

I have a Classic Roadsters with a strong carbed 302, I would put it between 375 and 400 at the crank with 3.73 gears. I believe that it weighs right around 2,400 lbs. I have beaten older Vipers, and ran dead even with a brand new 500 hp one. I recently had a h_ll of a time and barely pulled on a 400hp M5 BMW. That M5 was tough! My son's factory supercharged 03 Cobra Mustang can pull away from me in third but not by a whole lot. He has a catback exhast and cold air K&N induction. That puts him between 450 - 460 hp.

I love giving the Z06s hell, at the autocross and at the track. Their big weakness(at the track) is brakes. Of course, for the right amount of money anything can be overcome! I'd still like to have one...

I think 99% of the folks on this forum already know the modern Z06 will take a Cobra on a road course (if they don't, I am sure you all will stick your noses in any thread I post on and remind them...).

I raced a new Corvette and left him so far behind that I turned around and went back to the stop light and asked him what happened...he told me he was waiting for the light to turn green.. I must have red lighted..

Guy I bought from raced in Vegas and came in 2nd. He smoked the Z06's on the course. The only one he lost to was an older Lotus. This car is set up right! IRS, Coil over spring, rear end out of a Cobra R. He is a lot better driver than I am, as he is certified

Actually most folks in this forum are "certified" in one way or another, some in driving and some in their mental condition...

Placed second in Vegas in what? Just curious.

The new ZO6 is a heck of a car. 3100 lbs, 500 HP. Chevy is not even comparing it to the Viper (3700 lbs ?) but rather going after super car territory. Arrogant and probably rightly so.

Lot of delusional grandeur around here, as well as on every other car forum. I'm sure there are a couple of kids somewhere who have posted on the appropriate ricer forum that they "smoked" both my C6 and my Cobra FE, in their Hondas and Hyundais.

My favorite pastime is to sit a stop light with one of those guys who give me "the look." They rev it, and I rev it, and then I watch them go nuts, while I just sit there for a second or two, and pull out slowly. The best time was the marked Crown Vic that pulled around from behind me when one of the dumba$$es showed me what he had, and I made sure to wave as I went by.

I don't take the bait from morons, but I love watching them do it.

Hey look, I am just telling you he placed 2nd in a race up in Vegas. He was beat by an older Lotus, but beat the Z06's badly. I have had the car for a week and have had one confrontation with a new vette (not a Z06) and beat him quite handidly. I didn't hit third cleanly either.

I drove a hennessy 550 viper. I was not impressed. It definitely did not have the blinding acceleration my cobra has.

Cobra Make, Engine: Owned CSX 3121 1969-1975. Went to the dark side and bought a 'Vette. May yet repent and be saved.

As a former (original) Cobra owner, let me point out that the perception of acceleration and reality may differ significantly. Small, loud, open cars magnify the sensations associated with speed. CSX 3121 was a low-12 second car, while my modified C5 is a low 10 second car. My recollections of the Cobra are that it felt quicker than the 'Vette.
