I did something similar; I moved the hole to CORRECT the pushrod/master cylinder alignment. Then, not liking the pedal ratio, I moved the rod back to the original hole and corrected the alignment by shimming one of the M/C bolt holes with a washer.
You might try shimming the M/C and then moving the hole as much as possible while maintaining alignment.
