Default Lucas Dash Panel Light Rheostat Switch

I am looking for the current part number and source for a Lucas dash panel rheostat switch. This switch is the one that is used to dim or brighten or turn off the dash gauge lights. It typically has a fluted black nob but I just need the switch.

Any help with a Lucas part number and source would be appreciated. I cannot find this on the Finish Line online catalog.

That is an irritating website. Is it me, or is there a way to browse the online catalog without having to play cat and mouse??

blykins,
Neither. Just another numb-nut potential customer that will take his mouse to a site that wants to sell product instead of play games

Shelby has the panel dimmer switch. They modify a Ford switch to allow it to use the Lucas style knob and bezel. Consequently, it ain't cheap!

Kris,
Do you have the part number for the Ford switch and any further info on how they modify it?

It appears that the LUCAS MGB panel rheostat will work on the Cobra. It is 12 volt, with the on/off and low to high voltage rheostat. Same flat sided metal key knob for the fluted plastic dash knob. Has four spade connectors and can be found for $25 to $35 vs the $125~ price. I have one on order and if it works, or if it does not, I will let you all know.

My current rheostat is "notchy" in that is does not smoothly go from dim to brite with small gradiants, it appears coarse in the adjustment and has seen better days. Once I get a replacment I will try to use contact cleaner on the rheostat to see if it would clean up a bit.

Thanks for the help.

And yes that search engine on the Cobra Restorer's website is an odd implementation.

Ebay search "NOS Lucas Rheostat", there usually are a couple.
