Default drag racing a MK4

good day,

my buddy has a bet to race against a big merc.
his engine just arrived and I trust installation of his 351/427W will pose no bigger problems.

what are your suggestions for tires (must be 17" DOT approved) and coil/damper rate, as well as rear camber settings?

anything else that can improve traction?

thank you,

dominik

thanks,

I pass it on. In fact I ask him to join the thread. Apparently his opponent is a supercharged AMG with 700+ lbft torque.

Hello,

as Dominik mentioned already - I bet with a good friend of mine that I will bet him this time on a 1/4 mile...

His SL 65 Kompressor has over 810 lft torque / 700 hp on rear wheel and due to traction controll very good accelaration. Should be in the range of end of high 10 or very, very low 11 sec to 124 miles - have not 1/4 miles time till yet.

At the moment we are installing my new engine: DART ALU 351 stroked to 427
with Yates Heads, Pro System Carb. Ross Custom Psitons, solid rolleretc. Engine is totaly internally balanced and ssebled by MME Racing McKeown Motorsport. On Engine dyno 494 tf-lbs at 4000 / 599 ft-lbs as peask at 5500 and 522 ft-lbs at 7500 - hp 749 at 7300 - (thing at rear wheel it will be about 20% less.)

New transmission is G-Force 5 Speed straight cut. 5th gear 1:1. Rear ration 3,54. Total weight of my car app.- 2520 lbs

Tyres at the moment are KUMHO Sport Club tyres with DOT for road 245 /40/17 in front and 315/35-17 in rear.

What would you recommend to get as much as possible traction?
What about Hoosier Sports Car D.O.T. Radial Wet mentioned in above size?

Here in Germany it is extremly difficult to get any tyres with gret traction for the strip with DOT...

Best regards

Can

Default lift off

hi Can,

as you can see in the posted picture you don't need any better tires than those which can lift your front end...

I assume not even the suspension setting has been changed for that run.

good luck!
