Yes they make the studs that are longer. I found my supplies at a marine oriented upholstery shop. They can be had with a machine screw thread and a self tapping type thread. TRW markets them under the descriptive name of "Dot Snap Fasteners". Hope this helps. The more common name is "Lift the Dot".
