Some valve covers do not have oil baffles covering the area the PCV valve plugs into the cover. Without this baffle oil splash or droplets get pulled into the valve and hose but is heavy so not pulled vary far. This oil can settle at low points and/or get sucked the length of hose into carb.
Replace the hose and move on, do watch the function of the PCV valve as the heavy cold oil tends to disrupt funtion..... maybe a vac leak if stays open too long due to oil. It is made to suck vapor and not liquid oil in larger amount. Jeff c
