Default Large hoodscoop?

I'm looking for a large hoodscoop. I have an older EM replica with a full engine compartment. Oilpan is as low as reasonable and dual carbs are against the hood. As it sits now, I can only use two S&H aircleaners trimmed down to about 17/8 thick. The engine sits almost level so intake manifold has the dual carbs angled higher at the rear. I can modify things but scratch building I'm not much good at. I want to buy a hoodscoop that I can attach to my hood to get the aircleaner up above the hood line and into the air flow. The OEM scoop isn't high ,wide, or long enough . Ideally a scoop like the very rare Twin supercharged Cobras would be great. Any sources, suggestions, or allternatives?

I had my stock hood scoop cut out and a GT-350 hood scoop rivited and molded in. Works pretty good with the twin quads on my big block.

Default Hood Scoop

ERA might be able to help you with the SuperSnake scoop. They built a replica several years ago.

Default ERA built 3 hoods and will not do any more

Michael C Henry ERA built 3, I got one on my car and the others are for Paxton clones. If you find last years Kit Car mag with the Run&Gun feature you will see my car on the front cover James Yale has the Red coupe as the main larger picture. ( Hate hate you James) only kidding. There is a problem of the car gets light in the front end from TOO much air being pushed into the motor compartment. About 120 mph the lifting starts, 130 mph and the moving around starts. I learned this at Gateway. Rick L.

I built this cold air box for fun. It has a K&N 11" by 2 5/16" ring element and an 11" breather type lid. It is rated at 1050 cfm at 1.5 inches of H2O which is plenty for my little windsor.

It has the following features that I really like:

1) Gets cold air to the carb ( 1% HP gain per 11 F decrease in intake air temp)

2) It is very easy to take on and off, just remove the air filter and it comes off.

3) It does not interfere with anything else on the engine like the fuel lines and throttle linkage.

4) It was so easy to fabricate, even I could make it

My deal is I'm trying to get inline dual fours on a tunnel wedge intake manifold, some fresh air and less restrictive aircleaner elements. By less restricive I'll bet taller K&N elements on the S&H bases or an oval air cleaner with a descent element. The incline of the carb mounting flanges is more than the incline of the hood line. More than likely I'll have to come up higher through the hood and the rear will still be higher than the front .
Still no pictures of that super snake replica hood scoop.

Here is what the SC-110 looks like molded in (link provided in previous post)...

As for accomodating dual's I don't know - I had to put it on to get these large stacks under hood.

Best wishes and post pictures of what ever you go with!

I've put a few photos of my larger scoop here: http://www.firstcoastcobraclub.com/v...c.php?f=8&t=70

It allows a 4" high filter element, necessary for the 521 to breathe properly.

MR Bruce
The three pictures came through fine. I responded back.

I take it the lip coming up from the original hood line inside the front of the scoop is to keep rain out from under the hood and off the distributor?

Mike,

Keeping the rain out is the theory. Not sure if it works, but the first one had no lip and to my eye, this one looks better.

I've run each in 1" per hour downpours - on and off for up to 2-1/2 hours - (how smart is that?) and no problems with water on the distributor. I use an MSD and it seems to be water-resistant enough.
