Default Everything ready I think?

Hi All, I have disconnected everything and am ready to pull it when I can talk a friend or two over to help keep anything form getting away from me, just in case.
The last 2 questions I have are:
1: Should I leave the transmission in gear or in neutral before the pull it and for the install of the 408?
2: I have a cable clutch linkage not hydraulic. Do I need to disconnect anything there or can I just leave it as is, since there are no connections to the block. There is just the cable going into a box/cover on the side of the bellhousing. One of the books I have say I can just leave it alone and do not need to disconnect it for the pull. Is that correct?

Other than those two questions/items I am ready.

Tranny in neutral, especially when re-mating to the clutch later.

If you are leaving the bellhousing attached to the tranny, the throwout bearing and the mechanism will remain on the tranny input shaft when the clutch plate/pressure plate/flywheel separate with the block. All things being equal, you should not have to touch it .. and don't fiddle with it after the engine is out.

Caveat: if you are replacing the worn clutch plate with a new one while it is out of the car, you may need to adjust the throwout bearing clearance or free play in the linkage when it goes back together. This is to compensate for the increased thickness of the new clutch plate.

I'm sure a few of us NBC (North Bay Cobras) of the BACC are available to help you pull then engine. Let us know where and when.

Thanks to everyone and all the great help and direction, as well as some good photos, I pulled the 351 tonight and did it alone. All went well with no problems. I was going to get help from some of the North Bay Cobra group of the Bay Area Cobra Club but I just thought I'd try to see how easily it popped out of the bellhousing, and when it did so I just decided to keep going as it seemed easy enough at that point to just finish the job myself.
Could not have done this without the great support I got form all of you in this wonderful Cobra community.
I'll post again in a new thread about the install of the new 408 stroker as soon as I have it built and ready go in, (probably in mid to late Feb.). I might get it done and in before the end of Jan. but if not by then the wife and I are going on vacation until mid Feb.

Good job. Taking it out is easier than putting it in. You should get some help to at least be there with you in case you need it. Once you have done it once or twice you will be able to do it with your eyes closed.
