Default 2X4 or 3X2

Thinking about going to one of these on my 302. I realize that a single 4 barrel will probably give more HP. Is anyone running one of these? Any issues? Throttle cable hook up problems, distributor (MSD) clearance problems?

Street Rod Headquarters: C1AZ9424ATP289 - Ford%20Induction Systems - Ford. Tri- Power Manifold With New 290 Cfm Holley Carburetors - 289 & 302

Street Rod Headquarters: C1AZ9424ADQ289 - Ford%20Induction Systems - Ford. Dual Quad Manifold With 465 Cfm Holley Carburetors - 289 & 302

Price looks very attractive. And looks cool. Much cheaper than going to Webers.

Thanks.

I personally would stick with a single carb setup. You're right in that you'd probably be losing some horsepower to both of those setups, plus you're losing the ease of tuning that single carb setup provides.

Short of 10,000 rpm they are both too much carburetor. I expect the 3x2 set up will run better. I like the 3x2 look better too, but that is personal taste.

They both look cool, but I vote for 3 x 2.

I have always been a fan of the 3 X 2 setups, had one on a Ford 312 Y-block I had in a dune buggy. Good manners at road speed and if you don't use the wrong pump activators (like I did) the 3 X 2 setup comes on like gangbusters when those end carbs kick in.

Still like my 1 X 4 setup, though.....

Cheers from Dugly

I'd vote for the 3x2.
The 2x4 has the carbs around the wrong way, the back carb should have the choke mechanism and it should be the first carb to move off idle.
Reason being is it's primary barrels are closer to the centre of the engine.

Clearly not that way in the photo.

A single QFT of appropriate airflow will satisfy your appetite.
