As I recall the J302 heads were originally made by Alan Root and were marketed by Ford Motorsport in the late 80's. They were the first Aluminum heads for SBF but didn't have a real good intake port on them and consequently didn't receive a lot of development. Later various makes addressed the port deficiency and made great strides.
