EFI in my Cobra?
It'll be installed right after the airbag.

I think oil consumption is obvious different from car to car, build an aftermarket engine with any power adder, turbo, supercharge, or nitrious and use a carb and then use efi and then come talk to me, efi is far far superior, Kyroyer engines builds some of the finest efi engines around at a cost but they work like a dream, its a fact carbs work, efi works better, not these self learning systems I mean real tunable efi...

My airbags block views of rear safety camera.

Just got more great news:
It appears that after rebuilding the engine and needing new pistons due to the cracks on two of them, I also need to replace some of the valves and all of the guides as a few of the valves and all of the guides are showing more than normal wear. The builder remarked that this engine looked like it had been run without oil. Not on my watch, but who knows what happened before it was delivered to me. There goes another $1200 just for head work.
At least I am going to have the most expensive Roush 427 SRTW ever rebuilt.
Can't take away my bragging rights!
Now, can anyone tell me how to grind off the ROUSH name from my air cleaner lid? I've already replaced the valve covers with generic Ford covers.

I wish I knew. When the heads were removed, there was no cross hatch visible in any of the cylinders. Should have been visible with 13,000 miles. There were even a couple of tiny gouges in two of the cylinder walls. A couple of lifters were showing abnormal wear. The heads are being rebuilt due to wear. Either this engine was just a POS from the get go or maybe it was accidentally run without oil before I received the car. Who knows?
All I know is the rebuild is costing more than the original cost of the engine. I guess I just expected more. Should have gone with another engine builder. Why Roush feels they have to build an engine with looser tolerances is beyond me. If I had read their exclusion paragraph, I would have passed and bought another engine.
Oh we'll, it's only time and money. But it's my f--kin time and money.

Gee
Can of worms
What happens if u are looking at buying a cobra that has a Roush motor. Sounds like a number of u haven't known the issues until u have stripped it down. I know this is the case with all engines but the chance of getting a dog sounds greater in a 427R Roush than other motors.
I would expect a street motor to be good for 20k or more surely.

That's a good attitude.
Plus you live in a great town. Take a drive to the beach and watch all your worries melt away.

Last year I bought a car in a junk yard that had a 1994 Mustang GT 302 engine transplanted in it, it was in fairly good running condition, I mainly needed the block and a few other parts off the engine...Best we could tell, that engine had over 75,000 miles on it and when I tore it down, you could still see the cross hatch in all the cylinders and this engine did have a rough life up to that point.....
I don't have any idea what happened to your engine, but what you describe should not have happened in 13,000 miles and what other have been describing with their Roush engines with that or less mileage is not good...
