Chevy just doesn't go with the Cobra word. Hate to be literal but come on now.

I thought the genuine battle was over.....
The company that purchased AC, the logo and all their intellectual property is producing genuine AC Cobra's and yes they have a deal with GM and put Chevy Engines in Genuine AC'S.

Hi,

I am in the UK here is picture of my Dax 427 replica with a 383 SBC (Callies forged crank, h-beam forged rods, KB pistons, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Edelbrock Performer RPM Roller Cam, 10:1 compression) with Quad Weber IDF 48's.

The Weber's are a recent change the cars has been on the road since 2006, was running with a BG Fuel systems Speed Demon 650 and Edelbrock Performer RPM intake.

Jaguar IRS and suspension with a Tremec TKO600 tranny.

It is running ok with the Webers but still needs a bit of tweaking, what fun :-)

Also UK based, and have an 383 SBC. I think the majority of UK cobs a non Ford engine based, with the 350SBC & the smaller Rover v8 engines being the main choice - although there are still a fair number of ford engine powered cobs over this way.

Chris - love that engine bay - are you getting over to stoneleigh Kit car show next weekend? should be a fair few cobs on show if weather behaves itself.

around 200+ last year and year before

I don't have any pics, but I have the 502 Ram Jet crammed in my Cobra. The fuel injection unit is 11 inches tall, so it fills the engine bay. I have only heard one person question the choice of engines in the past few years.

Chevy, Ford or Viper V10, doesn't matter. They're all good.

As long as your Cobra isn't painted beige. A beige-painted Cobra is just not a Cobra at all. Maybe a nice wall color for your home.

Painted?
Chas told me it was adobe stucko!

BTW, if CS had his "vision", he probably would have driven Ferrari's into the sunset.
His relationship with Enzo, his heart, decisions made for him by XYZ - all helped shape him, too. The limitations of an instrument are what gives it its character, and character goes far.

Here I'll help resurrect your thread. Just received clearance from CT EPA and these gentleman.

Just a car guy : ? Air Pollution Patrol ? Yup, really existed

Has anyone to your knowledge put a Chevy engine in a continuation cobra? Would hurt resale value I would think. But some don't care about that.

While it's not yet fitted to my Pace 427SC, I have a brand new LSA 6.2 Supercharged ready to go at my workshop. It's the 585hp ZL1 variant that I'll be coupling to a TR-6060 MG9.

Given that I won't be running the restrictive OEM intake or exhaust it should make over 600hp....then I might change the pulleys and fit a cam. Should be lively in an under 1000kg (2200lb) car!!

That will be one sweet machine, state of the art tech all the way, you'll get high praise from anyone who has a chance to see it once done.

Default Again?...

I prefer a Chevy in my car that looks like a Cobra.. CS went to GM at first, but the corvette was their car.. Go figure... Interesting how people talk bad about a Chevy powered replica whose only claim is that it looks like a CSX...Hmmmm... But I see that it does keep a thread going.. Unless your S/N starts with CSX you are in the same gene pool....

True, no connection to SAI makes 'em all orphans. Consider your chevy powered replica the orphan CS would have adopted first. A series 4000 CSX with a chevy motor would hit the nail on the head if CS had his way.

Sounds sweet the LSA is very receptive to mods. I have a 2011 CTS-V sedan that makes 750 hp and ran 10.7 @ 128 mph last year. The race weight is 4600lbs including me!
