Love this thread.
The "correct" engine for a Cobra is the one that makes you happy.

Yep, I even took it a step further elsewhere (but no one cares lol) - it's like making your own ice cream, ingredients ...
- motor
- transmission
- rear end
- wheels
- body
- cockpit
- chassis
- suspension
Take different brands of each, mix 'em up, turn the crank and whallah! - your special flavor of cobra with the right amount of ...
- 1/4 mile performance
- road course handling
- authenticity to an original
- parking lot eye candy
... for you and nobody else
My cobra flavor ...
- road course demon - 70pts
- parking lot eye candy - 30pts*
*very unique paint, in concept stage
The other two not so much, different "strokes" for different folks

Fair enough, on the HP I agree there comes a point where you need to pull in Nancy Reagan for the just say no speech

Gentlemen, start your engines ...
Cobra: The First 40 Years by Trevor Legate
So racing in the SCCA championship events in the USA from 1957 was a Chevrolet V8-engined AC Ace featuring stylish flared bodywork. AC were required to subtly re-design the Ace when it metamorphosed into the Cobra in 1962, but it was hardly a major problem; they had done something very similar some 5 years earlier. Naturally other SCCA racers would have seen this car in action and taken note.

To finish first, you first must finish.

Off topic indeed.
The title of the topic is, "Let's See Your Chevy Powered Cobra".

As can be plainly seen, chevy discussions allowed with inputs from many received, no need for you to be here if you are not going to contribute in that vein, thank you.

285 km/h = 177 mph. I thought the 427's got a little "flighty" at ~150 mph. Maybe this guy had some aero work done, or maybe 150 mph is a little conservative, or he's just plain nuts to take it that fast.

Had some fun on the local airstrip racing a twin turbo Gallardo, rolling start at 80km/h. It is supposed to have 1200-1300hp so I thought I held up pretty well considering I only have just above 500hp Speedo is graded to 260kph and the needle is way past that in the end, GPS said 285km/h.

Naf
Anyone care to let me in on the secret of uploading pictures to this site? Have reduced the size to well below the minimums and still won't load.

Love those valve covers. Just what the car show crowd expects to to see. I'm still sporting bowties. If your running the C4 suspension what kind of wheels? Thanks for the pics

I currently run HRE wheels built to my specs. I have a set of Compomotive Halibrand style also built to my specs. Both sets are 17 x 12 rear and 17 x 10.5 front.
