Hi i'm new here and this is my first post on the forum.
i've been reading all of the cam/ gear posts.
i have one question about the steel gear and comp cam.
if the cast gear on the msd dist disinigrated with the nodular cast cam, then the cam was harder. so if you are now using a steel gear with the hardened cam, isn't there a chance that the dist gear will eat up the cam gear ??? i know you have pulled the dist to check it, but has anyone gone back and checked the cam gear for excessive wear? It is 330 in the morning here so i might be on a tangent...lol

I am putting a motor together for a mustang that i am going to drive while i build the 427 for my 95 cobra replica.
It is a 1970 302 30 over stock bottom end.
with 1990 e-7 heads and stock 90 efi.
here is my problem...
i have installed a non roller comp cam # 35-239-3
it uses a 351w firing order for efi on a non roller block...
jegs and comp cam suggested a cast gear.
I am using a stock 302 efi (module) dist.
it came with a steel gear as the donor was a roller motor.
i purchased a cast gear for 16 bucks from advance auto parts.
which should be used?
if the comp cam is extra hard as you stated then i should use the steel.
if the aftermarket advance cast gear is hardened i should be ok...
HELP, i am supposed to take the dist to the machine shop in the morning and change the gear so i can drop in the dist on sat.
thanks Aaron in S.C.
