Question 347 Stroker Kits?

I have been doing alot of research on 347 Stroker Kits and still cannot decide on a kit. I would like to know if anybody can reccomend a stroker kit that they have had experience with. I am wishing to get anywhere from 470to 500HP. Thanks for any help on this confusung subject.

Hey Kyle

I just finished a 347 for my 66 GT350. I used CHP kit. I belive they called it the Pro kit. I paid 1299.00 at the time for the kit. If you do not have a block, look into getting one from the same company and hopefully save money on block prep.(clearancing for stroker) and balancing the rotating assembly. Machine work aint cheap and you have to check the work they do anyway no matter who does it.

I used AFR 185 heads w/ roller rockers. I took a step backwards on efficiency and power when I relaced the brand new roller cam bearings in my new Ford R302 block w/ standard bearings for a solid lifter cam and lifters. I wanted it to SOUND and LOOK stock under the hood, and it does. I have no dyno results except for computer generated estamates peak of 464 lbs. torque @ 5500. Take your time deciding on how your going to drive your car before you pick a camshaft. The same estamates my torque at 365 @ 2500. Thats good bottom end (early) numbers and I get more of a rush from that than shifting at 7200. I love it. -Gary

Gary
The information you provided was very useful as the pro kit was one that i stumbled across. From what I heard and researched, the AFR185 heads are excellent. Do you have any cam suggestions that would provide more performance then stock sound. This is assuming the 347 pro street kit with afr185 heads.

Kyle, Ive had good luck with Comp.Cams myself. I would recomend you get a copy of the latest catalog and narrow down your choices. Then a call to the tech line and be prepared to answer a lot of questions about your car, and what you plan to do with it. If there are any questions you cant answer, find out and call them back. They are very patient. They want you to be happy with your final pick. Take your time. -Gary
