Mike,
With all that I wrote just a minute ago, I forgot to say that I have a couple of pictures of Clyde's 351W install. If you want to see them send me an email with a return address and I'll send them to you.
Warren

Thanks for the reply Warren ……my car is right behind yours! Sounds like you will be able to get a few miles in before winter.

Peter P called me Tuesday night…..this is what’s being done……#2115

Able to accept 351W
Adj Rear End-Outboard Brakes Pin Drive 3.54
The bigger front brakes
Trigo 15”..Pin Type
Drop down dash-glove box
Carpet
Heater Core

Frame painted (coated)
Body Bonded to the frame
Comp Seats
No Paint

That’s it! I’ll be piecing the rest together little by little……

Peter mentioned that the original Webber’s(48’s) would not fit with the 351 but there is a similar model….slightly smaller that will work…45’s? He also added that this other type seemed to stay in tune a little better and that the hot rod guy’s prefer them. I don’t know the cost or if I would go that route just yet.

I’m looking for a 1970 or earlier 351W block but …I’m not an engine guy….so I’m looking for advice here. I’m not afraid of putting one together once I’m pointed in the right direction as to what I need. I have a friend that would help me with the assembly…..but he has been out of the pieces and parts end of things and would also be lacking on what would be best ….and affordable for this build. What I don’t know is …if I need to be careful on the block purchase. If you are happy with your 351W ….please sends me your specs and you’re driving stile. Input on the block and head codes would be of great help…meaning…are there some better than others? I'm looking into a junkyard core but I could be advised otherwise. I'm not going with a custom engine builder....it's me or an old crate long block that will get me rolling... has anyone purchased one of these for a cobra? I’m OK with old iron heads...they won’t warp when I screw up….and the car is light enough….for now.

Warren….I’ll be down at ERA within the next couple of weeks. I’ll look for yours ….
If you are cruising in or about NH ….let me know, I’d like to see your car. mike

Pierce Manifolds sells a manifold for the Windsor that takes 48 IDA carbs. It is the street manifold with the thermostat housing. Part number K9119. There may be a manifold available somewhere that takes 45IDF carbs - different footprint. I know that they are available for the other small blocks.

Hope this helps!
