I had to grind some of the hex washers too, I also used some Loc-Tite on the bolts.

Thumbs up

W-lewis,

Stage 8 header bolts are a brand name for a special design bolt that won't come loose once installed. Here's a link to their WEB site with a description and picture of the bolts.

Many thanks Jim. My engine compartment is so tight and the header bolts are so inaccessible, it might be difficult to fasten the retainer clip. I'll definitely let my mechanic look at them.

Thumbs up

w-lewis,

I looked at the photos of your engine in your gallery and it doesn't look to me that installing the Stage 8 header bolts would be any problem what so ever.
Nice looking car by the way!

Thank you for your thoroughness. I would guess that you went to the Vintage Motor Sport Website. BDR 426 is my car.

Thanks for the assistance.

Smile header bolts

I installed Stage 8 on my 5.0 after loosing a few header bolt. I've driven my Cobra about 8,000 miles with them and no problem. I did have to grind a few to fit. Be careful not to file to much off.

Jim,
My header bolts on the right side are accessible from top and bottom, but left is only accessible from bottom (unless steering shaft and throttle linkage is removed), but is still very tight. I'll give it a try though. Thanks,
walter
