I want to install a set of shaft mounted rocker arms on Edelbrock Performer RPM heads.
The heads have guideplates installed from the factory. The rockers are positioned on the shafts with bronze washers, however there is still some sideplay left:
Can I remove the guideplates and use non-hardened pushrods or should I keep the guideplates?
It's a more durable piece if you should upgrade cam and stiffer springs. It's not a much greater expense than standard, especially since you've upgraded to a shaft system. It's good insurance, especially in the 5/16 size.
