Default 302 oil pan

I have a 302 GT 40 from Summit on the left side of the pan there is a 1 3/4 hole for something. The local ford guys don't know its to big for an oil level sending unit so what is it. Someone thought it might be an oil pan for a engine going to Australia. I don't want to change the pan if I don't need to any ideas?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, that hole is probably for a sending unit. There's a plug/fitting that goes in the hole. The fitting has a threaded hole in the middle. The sender screws in to that hole.

The threads in that fitting are some bizarre metric size. You can buy an adapter from Mike Forte so you can screw in a temp sensor.
