Let me share a story of plug wires. I use old school stainless Solid Core wires with a MSD 6T box because they "just look right". Anyway I initially tried non resistor Autolite Race plugs, at about 5000 RPM it would begin missing. At the suggestion of some I tried a the 50 Ohm per foot wires but with the same results. I then put in a used set of Autolite resistor plugs that I had removed previously and it ran fine with no hesitency or missing. So I then replaced the wires with the solid core ones that I really wanted to use and it ran fine.
After this I was told that with capacitive discharge ignitions and there ability to discharge so quickly; that they must have a measured amount of resistance in the secondary system either through the wires or in the plugs themselves otherwise the spark kernal will not be hot enough can get blown out and the fuel will not be ignited. In my case the 50 ohm per foot wires did not work for me. They may have become to short after I custom fit them to my 289 engine. I know MSD says not to use Solid Core wires but at this point all is well. Not for everybody.
