You do know that a Turkey Pan is a huge PITA when you have to adjust your carb, unless of course you have a two-piece removable Turkey Pan. I had mine custom fabricated, but the Kirkham brothers now sell a very nice one for about $250 or so. They might even adjust it for your 460, if that's needed. I honestly don't like the look of those. I'm sure they're as functional as the originals (which is a question in itself...) and it's very pretty work... but the lack of the flared top edge and radiused bottom of the drawn pan doesn't look quite right. IMHO. IMVHO.

If you're going to pan your carb for originality, using a billet replacement that doesn't look anything like the originals is... an interesting choice.

I got one from Finish Line. I had to do lots of work to finish it, but I'm happy with the results.

No, I've looked at the pix of yours more than once. My solution was to swap out the pan and S&H cleaner for a long oval... for three reasons: better breathing, easier carb access while I get things set up and a place to attach the oil filler breather tube. I'll leave it that way for daily driving, and put the pan and ittybitty cleaner back on for show. But I like your solution as a compromise.

I made a convertible turkey pan for 767 Jockey. It looks alot like the first picture but uses nutserts so it's a lot tidier than the second picture with the springs and hooks. You can hardly tell from the side it's removeable. I have the laser cut bases so you can gut yours out and make a new removeable base from it with appropriately located nut serts to hold it together.

What is the cross-spring for? Antirattle?
The safety wire that runs between the two Terry Body springs is just there to prevent one from some how rattling loose and falling off. That has never happened, but I tend to safety wire anything I can on that car as that FE shakes it pretty good. My last two "stranded out in BumFu**" threads have been the result of little insignificant bolts and screws that vibrated loose. In fact, as an onwer of a new-to-you ERA you should check the clutch throw-out arm set screw and the shiftter linkage bolts to make sure they are tight. A cursory examination will not ferret them out -- you have to go look for those two gems. While you're at it, tighten up your motor mounts as well.

You would never, ever find it unless someone told you to check it.... or you went for a big shift and the pedal goes all the way to the floor without doing anything.

So I decide to pull off my (torn) shifter boot, replacement on order, and to my satisfaction, my shifter is held on by two beefy 5/16 bolts.

Um, one of which is a half inch out of its socket. Yipes. I think I need to line up the wrenches for a full workout this weekend...
