On 623 I broke a rear end mount on the passenger side, which in turn sheared the back mount bolt. I was very lucky the whole thing didn't snap honestly. It could have been a nightmare.

I noticed a bit of chatter in the drivetrain when taking off in 1st. I thought it was the original motor mounts, so I changed them to the SCOF polys. It helped, but the chatter was still there. If you experience this noise, check the whole drivetrain, not just the motor or tranny mounts.

The passenger side mount was completely ripped off. So a stronger one was welded directly to the frame and with much thicker flat bar. Also, on some of the earlier cars the back mount, the one with the bolt running through it sometimes has the bracket collar resting on the bolt threads which creates a weak spot and can shear the bolt. That is exactly what happened to me.

There is no complaint here, just a heads up. I drive this car constantly. I have almost 20,000 miles on it and I do not baby it in any way.

I know that I don't post that much anymore, but I hope everyone is doing well.

First off, glad this did not result in an accident.

If you are referring to the upper shock mounts, this issue had been identified a while ago and a fix developed.

Not sure I would have welded a bracket in place. That removes the ability to adjust the suspension.

I am glad the car was able to limp home. I got it back and it runs better than it has in a while. The drivetrain feels solid. I'm glad I found the issue before full failure

BTW it was not the shock mount issue. This was two of the mounts for the rear end assembly. Now that it is fixed I realize that this has been waiting to pop for a while now. That drivetrain chatter upon take off is not normal......be aware. Thanks for the responses.

You welded a bracket to the frame upright?? If so you better make sure the angle is correct, and the load is evenly dispursed over the 6" the bracket covers. I would call Randy at Cobra Valley they make a great bolt on bracket.

I just installed them on my SPF and replaced the shocks with QA-1's. Next I'm installing his new sway bars..

Rooster I have seen that exact problem on a friends car. The passenger side differential mount was ripped right off the frame. We resolved it by welding a 1/4" plate onto the frame rail for added strength and then welded a new mount in place that was much thicker.

He had the same series of events you did with the broken mount and sheared bolt. If I remember correctly I heard they fixed the issue around S/N 1000

Anyone have pics of this area? I'd like to check my welds for fatigue. Not sure exactly which connection is being discussed.
