It does happen once in while. Either a flaw or King Kong was beating on it.
Checking stock for you.........
See the video Olthoff Racing has with Dennis demo'ing how to fasten the knock-offs.

Well,
I'd suspect a casting defect, as I've beaten on them pretty good without breaking. You can still drive the thing, though so not all is lost.
But I probably wouldn't duct-tape it back on.

Don't you get it yet?
Step away from the Cobra!
Give it a day. You never know when the mojo (good or bad) strikes.

Geez if thats a big deal to you sell the car ASAP!!!!! You not a fit for it. As the other posted stated the "wing" does nothing to keep the wheel on, go for a drive. I have beat the sheet out of spinners before with no issues, just a simple casting flaw.

Let me tell you the story of an AC "Superblower" in no way US legal, here under a manufacturer's exemption, and a container of Johnny Walker Black that spilled all over the wool carpets, no license plate and a county sheriff!
My business partner almost went to the hooscow on that adventure!

Been there, done that...
I got rid of my aluminum spinners and went with the stainless version from George Petrus at Cobra Racing Suspension. I also now use plenty of never-seize and before I start knocking them off I give them a shot of WD40. Works like a dream.
Here is a link to the spinners.

Not sure what year your car is, but at one point it was known that the spinners were less than they needed to be on an SPF.
The fix was the current "forged" aluminum spinners.
If you are on the SCOF forum someone with a better memory than mine can fill you in on which chassis were suspect.

Yes. I got a PM on it.
I have 1413 and it falls into that category from what I understand. Will get on the SCOF forum later and seek it out.
Just to update: Took out the Chevelle AND the Cobra tonight. All good! Love the new tires on the Cobra.. WHAT a handling and acceleration difference. (not wild about the wheel well gap... may try to adjust springs to bring car down).

Yeah, I owned 1380 for some time and had to change my spinners.
Best of luck to you!

Here's the approach that I took. The man's a hard-working genius in my view. There's a link in his website to a video review by Leno too. The Cobra's combination of extendedc fender lips and the depth of the Halibrands just begs for an 'oops' following by some very colorful language that family and neighbors are going to 'love'.

Have done that twice over the years. I just keep a couple spare RH and LH on the wall in the garage for just that reason.
