I've had the George Petrus stainless steel knock-offs for 20 years. I've beat the crap out of them a few times. No bendy, breaky or denty.

The early cars had forged spinners, the later cars all come with cast, but only some of the "middle" cars had problems with the casting. Spinner problem was between chassis #800 and #1200. If you beat on only one spinner ear to remove a tire you can break it regardless. Spinners should all be removed once a year to clean and lubricate. It is not uncommon for knockoffs to be over tightened. Watch Dennis's video and listen to the sound.

they gave you three to beat on. You still have two good ones. Go for a ride and order a new spinner tonight.

X2 on the stainless spinner from George. Hint...If you go stainless decide when you buy if you want natural or polished finish. If you get natural you won't be able to polish them yourself if you change your mind later. Stainless is just too hard for the average home shop setup to handle. On the plus side, they're really easy to clean if their polished. Don't need anything but a damp rag.

Mea Culpa.......someone got so excited that the GT40 is registered and checked out for the road and sorta forgot to check a couple of parts for a couple of guys. A classic case of "small head" vs. "big head" operation. But the drive was worth it especially when I let the Ferrari 420 Spyder go like hell and refused to "race" him in front of people working in their yards. At least I didn't look like a dipwad!

A proper list has been written down and inventory search will take place today.

So Rick, when are you bringing the GT40 out this way for a drive?

Blown871, I wish that I could help you, but I have no spares.

Well if we get a day with no rain I will come and visit the ERA!!!! The Mrs. likes a gift shop in your area although she has decided that the GT is a "I did that once" ride and may not be up for said trip!

Let me know. Tell her that the GT40 will allow her to see more shops than riding in a conventional car..

With the wheel IN the air: Tap, turn; tap, turn, till it comes off.

- Never hit the spinner without the wheel being able to spin free
- Never hit one ear more than ONCE in a row

5-10 taps and it pops right off...

Thanks for the advice.
