Let me know when you are going and we can meet there, they meet every Wednesday until Sept .

If I can ever break free early from the grind to get there early enough I will be in touch. Thanks!

I have to say that I'm one that love car shows.
Mine is not "show quality" but a lot of people love to look at it and ask questions. Since mine is driven often, it doesn't present itself as show quality nor "original" so I'm not inclined to embellish concerning if its real or accurate. I usually tell them what "kit" it is and explain what went into building it, and that I did all of it myself except for the front end alignment. I don't sit around my car all day, but look at the amazing work some of these artist do with their cars (and engines if they have the hood open). I meet someone almost every time that has no idea what it is but loves it! It gives me an opportunity to introduce them to our passion!
I'd rather get with about 5 or 10 other cobras and cruise around some great roads but that's not always available, so the car shows are just another way to enjoy these beautiful creations!

I only go to charity show and shines as well.
The few concours I've entered I do spend the entire time keeping people with big watches, drinks, strollers, dogs and people who have no respect for other people's property away from my car.
Once followed a lady with a stroller in one had and a cell phone in the other (staying between her and my car) all the way around my car. She made it a point to interrupt her phone call to tell me in a snide tone 'I won't scratch your car!' to which I replied 'I know you won't!'
Now I only attend judged shows where the cars are roped off. This way I can at least leave my car and enjoy the show.

I rarely go to car shows, if I do I park, go look at the other cars and then leave. Probably there an hour at the most. I'm too ADD to sit there all day, I would rather be driving.

We only do the car shows that are for a good causes, we especially like supporting the military, i.e. Folds of Honor, Veterans Centers, VFW, etc... Other than those, my wife & I would rather drive the Cobra. The more cruises we can do in the Cobra, the better it is, after all, we built the car to drive. Many of our "car" friends would rather sit at a car show ALL day instead of driving their cars, I just don't understand it, but to each his own. I know a few of them just don't trust their cars.

I like to visit car shows and wander around looking but I'm not big on being a participant. I've seen enough un-attended children, dogs, bicycles, skateboards, teeny-booper fender sitters, and just plain idiots to last me the rest of my life. However I did venture out to a cruise night in my ERA a couple months ago since a bunch of my car buddies were I think, questioning if I had ever managed to get it finished. I have to admit I was a little touched by the 9 or 10 year old boy who dragged his mom up to my car and looked it over good until he spotted the Cobra emblem on the trunk. His eyes got big and he turned to his mom and started on about "This is a Cobra. This is the coolest car ever made. I've never seen one. Is it real?" After answering some questions, showing him the engine bay and letting his mom snap his photo standing next to it - he went on his way a happy camper. I'm not a children person but afterwards I wish I had taken him for a quick ride.

A note on those open hoods - older Corvette owners deal with a well known problem with the sun reflecting off those GM chrome air cleaner lids that act like a perfect reflecting prism and will focus sun rays on the underside of the hood, burning a nice stripe right down the underside and topside of the hood paint as the sun angle changes. It's a good idea to put a towel or something over those chrome air cleaner lids if you like to open your hood.

ANY show I have had my car at, if someone's kid is excited and the parents are respectful enough to ask, I will gladly help get the kid in the car for a nice pic.
It's the ones that don't ask and just drop the kid in the car that tend to p##s me off.

I did just that tonight! Was at the local ice cream shop with my daughter in the Cobra. A little boy and his dad were admiring the car so I asked if they wanted to sit in it for a photo op. They were thrilled. Maybe the kid will one day be a Cobra owner. They didn't even ask to see the engine.

THAT'S what I'm talking about! And yes, that pic will probably be on his bedroom wall. Nice!
