Default SP03174 Sidepipe Installation

Put the Roush 427SR in my new Mklll on Saturday. Spent all day today working on the sidepipes. I canít get the rear attachment points on either pipe to be where it needs to be. The rear attachmrent point is 1Ē outboard and 1Ē to low from contacting the chassis point. The sidepipe to header flange is loose to get max adjustment snd Iíve tried moving the engine right/left, forward/back and up/down and canít get them any closer.

Any suggestions? Do I need to force them (bend them) into position?

You may need to use a "wedge" spacer to move the pipe to the point you need. Rarely our installer partners need to psychically "tweek" the pipe to achieve a non-loaded mounting, however the wedge spacer usually resolves the issue. These work: New Page 1

Thanks Rick. I had seen these spacers awhile ago online but had completely forgotten about them. They look promising so Iíll contact Craig and ask about them.

I have used ratchet straps more than once to manipulate the pipes to get them where I need them.

How much have you moved the pipes to get them in the correct position?

Did you do this with the pipes cold? Iím still installing the engine.

John,

You would think hot would be better but in reality the temp you would need to really be able to easily bend the pipes would mean your engine is running so far off proper mixture that the motor will be junk! Cold with a ratchet strap will do it. We have covered the pipe and placed my, well ample curb weight, ion the pipe to encourage it to move.

This should easily "convince" your sidepipes to align. The misalignment you have is minimal to me.

My driver side pipe, at the rear attachment point needs to move in 1.5 ď (towards the trans) and up 0.6Ē to contact the chassis pad.

It takes very little effort to move a 16 gauge steel weldment almost 5' long. Maybe someone has a better solution but this works 100% of the time in my shop. You are not going to hurt it.

I'm not familiar with the sidepipes on a Superformance but on an ERA it makes all the difference in the world to loosen up the header bolts first, get everything lined up as it should be and then tighten the header bolts last.
