Default Replacing rectangle tail lights w. round

In order to pass NYS inspection the lights I need are round. 2 round lenses will be replacing one rectangular lense.

Question: what is behind the rectangular tail lense? Will 2 round mount up clean in its place?

Thanks

A rectangular opening in the fiberglass is behind the single lens.
You would need a filler plate of some sort between the 2 round lenses.
That's how it is on my series car at least.....
But you could always just mock-up the round lights for the inspection and then, maybe they go back to the original install....

Thank you. I just heard back from Dynamic, they are going to do just what you recommended. If the plate looks good, I will leave it.

#747 has two holes. But when you remove the rectangular lense, it rests on a flat section of the body. Two round lenses protruding from a flat section just looked odd to me, like it wasn't in the original plan or something. Eh, what the heck...do whatever floats your boat!

I know exactly what you are talking about there is a flat spot, obviously meant for the rectangular configuration.

I dont know what kind of body you have but some bodies have a larger flat area to accomidate the two round lights . Anyway a square hole is centered behind my square lights.like blas said.

What are the requirements for NYS as far as passing inspection on these and how hard is it to get it done? I see that you have to have the round lights on these versus the rectangular type. I was reading some places where people were posting about inspection in NYS. I would assume that the round lights serve more of a function or at least they think so if they require the round over the rectangular type. Where do you live up there? I was looking in and
around
Skaneatles and Cazenovia area. Canadaigua,Auburn Etc. The areas up there in some places flood and some snowfall is real heavy i see. I am in Indianapolis and was thinking of moving there because there aren't any good
areas here to amount to anything. The places like Greenwood and Carmel all suck the way they complain about stuffand the people do also.

The round lenses are the only one with SAE ratings engraved on them. That is the requirement of NYS. And it is their biggest sticking point.

compaq,
I live just outside of Syracuse, about 15 min. from Cazenovia and 30 min. from Skaneatles, I know both areas very well. What would you like to know?
As for the Cobra mine has rectangular tail lights and I have never had a problem with inspection. I believe as long as your car is already titled, registered and inspected that you will not have much trouble in transferring the title and registration. I could be wrong (I believe Cbattaglia is probably being made to jump through hoops because he is trying to register and inspect his new car for the first time) so it is still in your best interest to call the DMV.

Good luck,
Dan

See the discussion in this thread http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...531#post739531

Original Cobra's with the round tails had them mounted on a flat surface also.
